I am an adviser to LangLearner.com, a local STL-based software business that has developed a series of tools to help people learn languages. Unlike their well-financed competitor in the ubiquitous yellow boxes and obnoxious TV commercials, this software can be used to go from any-to-any language rather than a particular pair. They offer a variety of learning tools including hearing the words spoken, seeing any nouns displayed as pictures, particular lessons, and games.
They have a series of products now:
- Their Web-based subscription service LangLearner.com that starts at $30 a month, with reductions for longer-term plans, and free one-day trial.
- An iPhone/iPod Touch app for $10 that takes the same lessons from the above and puts it on your mobile device.
- A Windows Mobile Spelling Bee app for $5 that helps you learn English vocabulary.
- The Spelling Bee app on Android is also available.
